海で死んだウミガメの全てが、プラスチックゴミが原因だった
よく、海洋プラスチックごみ問題のイメージ画像にウミガメの画像が使われていますね。
なぜだかご存じでしょうか。
ウミガメは今、地球温暖化やプラスチックごみの煽りを非常に受けている動物だからです。
■１、死んだすべてのウミガメからプラスチックごみが見つかった
世界の海で死んだウミガメの内臓を調べたところ、すべてのウミガメからプラスチックごみが見つかったという調査結果が発表されました。※

調査した個体は102頭。
大西洋と太平洋、地中海に生息する全７種類のウミガメ海岸に打ち上げられたり漁師の網にかかったりするなどして死んだカメを調査したそうです。
なので、海の汚染が進んでいる特定の場所だけでの話ではないのです。
ウミガメの好物は、クラゲ。フワフワと海で漂うビニール袋は美味しいエサに見えてしまうのです。
しかも、食べたものはビニールだけでなく、マイクロプラスチックなどの合成粒子が８００以上も見つかったとのこと。内臓の一部しか調べていないので、実際の数はそのさらに多いはず。
これは、ウミガメに限った話ではなく、私たちが口にしている魚介類にもマイクロプラスチックは紛れこみ、知らず知らずのうちに飲み込んでいる可能性は高いのです。
■２、温暖化の影響でウミガメのなんと９割がメスに！
オーストラリアの北東、クイーンズランド州のグレートバリアリーフ最北端に位置するレイン島。
そこは世界最大のアオウミガメの繁殖地です。
なんと、そこでは少なくとも過去20年、ほとんどメスのウミガメしか生まれていないとのこと。
その一方、サンゴの状態も良く、海水温の上昇がそれほど激しくない南の浜では、子ガメの性比率は、オス：メス ＝ ２：１にとどまっているとのこと。
かなりの偏り方ですね。これは、一体何を意味しているのでしょうか・・・。
ということで、ウミガメは私たち人間の環境汚染などによって、大きな影響を受けています。
他の魚介生物も、大なり小なり影響を受けていることに間違いありません。
便利な生活を追い求め、石油を掘り出し、プラスチックに変えて製品化したり、燃料として燃やしてCO2を増やした結果、
温暖化や環境汚染を進めてしまい、いつかは大きなしっぺ返しとなって私たちに降りかかることでしょう。
そういった未来がわかっているのですから、今どういったことをしないといけないのか。
企業や、私たち一人ひとりが考えていかないといけないのです。

■ 1. Plastic waste was found in all dead sea turtles
Examination of the internal organs of dead sea turtles in the world's oceans revealed that plastic waste was found in all sea turtles. *

102 individuals were investigated.
All seven species of sea turtles that live in the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and the Mediterranean Sea have been investigated for dead turtles that have been washed up on the coast or caught in fishermen's nets.
So it's not just about specific places where the ocean is polluting.
Sea turtles' favorite food is jellyfish. The fluffy and floating plastic bag in the sea looks like delicious food.
What's more, not only vinyl but also synthetic particles such as microplastics were found in more than 800. Since we have only examined a part of the internal organs, the actual number should be even higher.
This is not limited to sea turtles, but it is highly possible that microplastics are mixed in with the fish and shellfish we eat and are swallowed without our knowledge.
■ 2. Due to the effects of global warming, 90% of sea turtles become female!
Raine Island is located at the northernmost tip of the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, northeast of Australia.
It is the largest breeding ground for green turtles in the world.
Therefore, sea turtles are greatly affected by environmental pollution of us humans.
There is no doubt that other fish and shellfish are also affected more or less.
As a result of pursuing a convenient life, digging up oil, converting it to plastic and commercializing it, or burning it as fuel to increase CO2.
Global warming and environmental pollution will be promoted, and one day it will be a big return and will fall on us.
Now that we know such a future, what should we do now?
